50 houses over 50 years - learn more about our [establish> project here
Friendly, professional and award winning. Our services help thousands of people move every year.
Why don’t people like estate agents? It appears that the general sticking points seem to be shoddy service for high prices, inexperienced staff or lack of training and a ‘commission based’ pay cheque reflected in a ‘commission based’ attitude.
All these things together have helped form the stereotype, the ever affectionate ‘shark’ reputation so often lavished on estate agents. It hasn’t come from nowhere, it has been earned by a few bad apples in the industry making dodgy deals and generally being untrustworthy.
So why is Andrews different? Yes, we’re an estate agent, we drive the notorious ‘agent mobiles’ and we sell and let houses, but we’re run a little differently to everyone else. Our founder, Cecil Jackson Cole, transformed the relationship between social responsibility and business by transferring the ownership of Andrews to charitable trusts before he died.
To ensure his legacy lives on, we came up with an idea that would combine our business with our charitable shareholders and get everyone in Andrews working together towards a joint goal. This idea has become [establish]. A 50 year project that aims to renovate 5o houses over 50 years, and give them to local charities seeking to help vulnerable young people.
All very well and good, but this doesn’t mean much if you just want good service when selling your house, does it?
Well, what we can say is that trustworthy, friendly service is in the fabric of why Andrews is still here, over 70 years after our first London branch opened its doors. When Andrews began to diversify after WWII, from a furniture shop into an estate agency, the industry was run by chartered surveyors who weren’t used to low to mid-range homes that were becoming available for the masses. Our founders brief to his new manager was to deliver the fast and friendly service people weren’t being given.
This is an ideology we have long strived to uphold. We recently won a Feefo Trusted Service Award for maintaining a high star rating across a large number of reviews, showcasing our dedication to outstanding customer service. “Just a marketing ploy” you might think. But providing a tailored, trustworthy and above all, truthful service is something that has permeated the very fabric of our company. Indeed, it’s in our very foundations.
It’s in the way we take our property photographs – using no artificial colours, no Photoshop and no wide angle images. It’s in the select organisations we recommend to complete your conveyancing services − who get paid by project, not by hour, reducing the length of the process by up to 30%. And it’s evident in our mortgage services – who will give invaluable mortgage advice, free of charge. No small print, you will only pay a fee if you sign up and get a mortgage through us.
What about the other sticking points? That, stereotypically, the staff are inexperienced? In 2017, our Learning and Development team completed over 3,000 hours of training, spread over 591 training sessions, so you can be sure your negotiator – lettings or sales – is well equipped and knows the ins and outs of the business. As for business experience, we’ve been around for 70 years. While new agencies crop up and disappear seemingly overnight, Andrews has truly weathered the storm of the property market for almost a century. We pride ourselves on having straight talking staff, who don’t confuse things with unnecessary waffle or hide away details.
So yes, Andrews is different. We are a company that cares about it’s customers. We aren’t looking to trick you with sneaky small print, or surprise you with any hidden fees, we’re just here to help you on your property journey − every step of the way.
