A look back on 2018 at Andrews
2018 was quite a year for the property market, and quite a year for Andrews!
Here’s what we got up to throughout the year…
We began the year by opening the second [establish] house in January, this time alongside charity CAYSH, in the London Borough of Sutton. This house is the second of fifty that we have committed to purchasing and renovating for young people in housing need and the project couldn’t be going better. We’re ahead of schedule and looking to complete on our fourth property in the first two years. We also have tenants of our existing properties, who are already benefiting from the [establish] network.
In April we won big at the ESTAS Awards . We were awarded Gold for Best Large Letting Agency, which was voted for by our Landlords. We were pleased to be honoured with this award that recognises the level of the service that we consistently provide to landlords all across our network. We also collected the Silver Trophy for Best Large Estate Agency and were also recognised on an individual branch basis with Andrews’ Lettings teams in Barnet, Keynsham and Tewkesbury all picking up Bronze Awards in their regions. Meanwhile, our Estate Agency team in Kingsbury won the Bronze Award for Best London North West Estate Agent and Longwell Green for Best Southern (Gloucestershire) Estate Agent.

At the start of July our Purley branch officially reopened by the Mayor of Croydon, the Worshipful Councillor Bernadette Khan, after being devastated by fire and flood in 2017. There was a real community spirit at the reopening and the Purley team was pleased to be back home, in order to continue to provide award winning service and support to their local customers and community.
Over the summer our branches supported a number of local community events, with the weekend of July 6th – July 8th being extremely busy as our Clifton, Morden, Streatham, Norbury, Bear Flat, Orpington, Brockworth, Charlton Kings and Keynsham supported 8 events between them. One of the stand out events from the summer was the Keynsham Music Festival, where Andrews were the main sponsor. We held a number of competitions for adults and children across the weekend long event, which was located just across from Andrews Head Office, in Keynsham Memorial Park. These events are an imperative part of our branches as we really enjoy engaging with the local area, and giving back and making an impact within the communities.
The second half of the year was a busy one, as in mid-September we celebrated our oldest branch, Morden, turning 70. They’ve seen quite the change over the years in the property market but this all adds to their years of experience in serving their local market. We also made our largest additional donation since 2004 to our charitable owners. The £1,000,000 donation was shared between Andrews Charitable Trust (ACT) and Speaking Volumes (formerly the Christian Book Promotion Trust).

In October we were awarded Gold in the National Lettings Category from the Best Estate Agent Guide 2019, this award recognised the top 0.5% of agencies. Our Southfields and Bath Bear Flat branches were included in the ‘Top 100 Sales & Lettings’. While two of our other branches, Southville and Southfields, featured in the ‘Top 100 Sales’ and five branches, Bath Central, Morden, Balham, Horley and Cheltenham featured in the ‘Top 100 Lettings’.
We also marked Halloween in October by holding a branch-wide fundraising day in aid of Carers Worldwide. Andrews branches across the country got into the Halloween spirit and organised a number of fundraising activities and helped raise over £9,000 for this amazing charity that we work closely with throughout the year.

The mild start to November was greatly appreciated by those who took part in the 1625ip Sleep Out. They not only helped to raise over £5,500 for 1625ip, but also raised awareness of homelessness and what great work 1625ip are doing to help support those who are homeless, and those at risk.
We finished off the year with a huge number of branches getting involved with Christmas sponsorship events within their communities. Our branches really value being able to support events, getting involved and making a different within the areas where they live and work.

At Andrews we pride ourselves on delivering the highest level of service for each and every one of our customers whether they are undertaking a big move or just wondering how much their property may be worth. We’re so pleased to hear about all the journeys we helped make possible throughout last year, and look forward to helping even more people get moving this year.
Looking to the year ahead we’re starting off the year as we did in 2018, with the opening of our third [establish] house, and hope to have another successful year getting involved with local community events, the charities we support through our partnership with Andrews Charitable Trust, and a few awards thrown in as well wouldn’t go a miss. Most important of all we’ll continue to sell and let houses and support families on their journeys to new homes no matter what the market may face.
