Why selling your property in summer is a smart idea
Deciding when the best time to put your property on the market for sale can often be tricky. You may often hear that the market slows down during summer and it’s not the best time, however the best time to put your property on the market is when it’s best for you and your situation. This might be waiting until autumn or right in the middle of summer.
If you do have a date in mind for when you want to have moved by then this can often impact your decision. If that date is Christmas or New Year then having a think about getting your property ready during summer is best to keep organised. It’s important and may be beneficial in the long run to get the ball rolling early.
There are also benefits of selling your home during summer. For starters the lighter evenings and sunshine (fingers crossed!) always helps to make a property look more appealing. Buyers on the hunt for a south facing garden and rooms with a lot of natural light will be impressed when your property ticks all these boxes.
In summer people often have more time, or at least are more than happy to head back out in the evening. You may be surprised that you may get more viewings during this period compared to winter when we all know it’s much harder to leave the house when it’s dark and cold.
If you do want to wait a couple of months until putting your home on the market now is still the time to get prepared. Before talking to an estate agent it’s advisable to speak with a mortgage adviser to see discuss the possibilities for your next purchase. You may also want to spend some time preparing your property – do any of the rooms need a lick of coat or do you want to spend some time sprucing up the garden?
If you are thinking about getting your property on the market for summer then contact your local branch so that they can run through the process with you and get your move off to a flying start.
